LAMAH

Board Members

Welcome to the Latin American Medical Association of Houston (LAMAH). It is my distinct honor to serve as President for the 2025 term.

As a physician, I understand the challenges our profession faces, alongside the deep commitment and love that drive us to serve our patients. LAMAH was created to support Latino physicians through professional development, mentorship, and meaningful community engagement.

Why Our Mission Matters
Only 7% of physicians in the United States identify as Latino. This underrepresentation fuels our mission to strengthen the pipeline of future healthcare leaders. We do this by:

  • Providing mentorship and scholarships to medical students
  • Reaching out to middle and high school students to inspire early interest in medicine
  • Creating a supportive network for physicians to grow and lead

Our Members
LAMAH is proud to represent a vibrant and inclusive community of healthcare professionals. Our members include practicing physicians, residents, and medical students, each contributing to the greater good through clinical care, mentorship, advocacy, and innovation. Their dedication reflects our shared values of excellence, service, and community impact.

Looking Ahead
In today’s healthcare landscape, physicians must be equipped with leadership tools to solve complex challenges and drive meaningful change. At LAMAH, we believe that investing in leadership development is essential to advancing clinical innovation, expanding access to care, and improving health outcomes across diverse communities.

Join Us
We invite you to be part of this mission. Whether through mentorship, sponsorship, or service, your involvement helps us build a stronger medical community, one that serves our patients and fulfills the promise of our profession.

Thank you for your commitment to excellence and service.

Warm regards,

Erica Gonzalez Hattery, MD, MHA
