Dear Colleagues and Community Partners,

It is my distinct honor to serve as President of the Latin American Medical Association of Houston (LAMAH) for the 2025 term.

As a physician, I am deeply familiar with the challenges our profession faces—alongside the profound commitment and compassion that define our calling to serve. LAMAH was founded to support Latino physicians in their professional journey, offering a network for growth, mentorship, and meaningful engagement with the communities we care for.

With only 7% of physicians in the United States identifying as Latino, our mission is clear: we must strengthen the pipeline of future healthcare leaders. At LAMAH, we do this by providing mentorship and scholarships to medical students, and by reaching even further into middle and high schools to inspire the next generation of physicians. Our members are not only clinicians, but mentors, advocates, and innovators. Their dedication reflects our shared values of excellence, service, and community impact.

In today’s evolving healthcare landscape, physicians must be equipped with leadership tools to solve complex challenges and drive meaningful change. At LAMAH, we believe that investing in leadership development is essential to advancing clinical innovation, expanding access to care, and improving health outcomes across diverse communities.

I invite you to join us in this mission. Whether through mentorship, sponsorship, or service, your involvement helps us build a stronger, more inclusive medical community, one that reflects the diversity of our patients and the promise of our profession.

Thank you for your commitment to excellence and service. I look forward to working together to shape the future of medicine.

Warm regards,

Erica Gonzalez Hattery, MD, MHA
